What was Bridgwater’s Wireless Station?

How did it connect Bridgwater to the wider world? Who built it? What was it like to work with this cutting-edge technology in the 1920s?

Discover the answers to these questions and more at the Bridgwater Wireless Station, a fascinating new temporary exhibition curated by Larry Bennett at The Blake Museum from 7 October to 7 November.

The exhibition explores the story of the Wireless Station, constructed by Marconi on behalf of the General Post Office as part of the Imperial Wireless initiative. It played a role in the United Kingdom’s first transoceanic wireless telegraph service, linking Britain with Canada and South Africa.

Visitors can explore artefacts and information relating to this remarkable chapter in Bridgwater’s history, alongside the rich history and exhibits of Blake Museum.

The museum shop will also be open, with refreshments available.

Entry to Blake Museum is free, although donations are always welcome.
