The Friends of Blake Museum are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team.
Whether you have a few hours a week or just occasionally, there are many ways to get stuck in and make a difference. There’s a place for everyone at Blake Museum! Some of our volunteers bring professional skills, others simply bring enthusiasm and a love of local history. Both are equally welcome and valued.
Volunteering with us is a chance to:
- Make a real difference to a museum at the heart of Bridgwater’s community
- Learn new skills or put existing ones to good use in a friendly, supportive environment
- Meet like-minded people who share a passion for heritage and local history
- Gain valuable experience – whether you’re building your CV, returning to work, or simply want to contribute something meaningful
We’ll always make sure you feel supported in whatever role you take on. There’s no pressure from us, just genuine welcome and plenty for you to get involved with.

Volunteer Gardener🌿
Help keep Blake Museum’s garden colourful and welcoming for visitors. You’ll be hands-on in the borders, planters, and green spaces, planting seasonal flowers, weeding, pruning, and keeping everything tidy and presentable.
No experience needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in. We’ll show you what to do, and you’ll pick up practical gardening skills along the way, working alongside a friendly team of fellow volunteers.
Sessions are just 2–3 hours, twice a month, run at a relaxed pace that fits easily around work and family commitments. It’s a simple way to spend time outdoors, meet new people, and make a visible difference to a much-loved local heritage site.
