SUMMARY:Guided Blake Museum Tour with the Professor!
DESCRIPTION:To coincide with Bridgwater’s Living History Day on Saturday 22nd August\, the Friends of Blake Museum are pleased to present a very special guest and new temporary member of staff to assist with our centenary celebrations… \n\n\n\nThe Professor! \n\n\n\nThe eccentric professor is a very\, very\, very distant relative of the original curator\, and therefore knows what he is talking about… or at least thinks he does. The professor will take you on a guided tour through the museum\, sharing some of the many secrets within. The Professor is a bit crotchety but always very silly and very excited about meeting you.  \n\n\n\nPlaces for the tour of the museum can be booked at the Town Council stand in the Rose Garden of Blake Gardens on the day. Demand is expected to be high and places limited so please book early to ensure you are not disappointed. \n\n\n\n📍Blake Museum📅 Saturday 22nd August🕰️ 10am to 4pm

SUMMARY:Handle Weapons from the Battle of Sedgemoor
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the centenary of the opening of Blake Museum and Living History Day on 22 August 2026\, the Friends are delighted to welcome back volunteers from the Battle of Sedgemoor Visitor Centre. \n\n\n\nThe volunteers previously gave a highly successful historical talk earlier in the year. \n\n\n\nThe display will be held between 10am and 4pm in the museum upper garden\, where the volunteers will present artefacts from the battle\, along with replica weapons. Many of these are based on farm implements and tools. \n\n\n\nThe volunteers will explain the items on display\, and visitors will have opportunities to handle the replica weapons. They will also share further insights into the battle and explain why the Monmouth Rebellion became known as the Pitchfork Rebellion. \n\n\n\nThe Friends look forward to seeing you at the event.
